Servant Saturdays

Learning the Way of Jesus by Serving Together

Some OCIA gatherings become acts of service because Christian formation must be lived, not only discussed.

Together may help someone in need, bring a meal to someone who is homebound, clean a parish space, set up or tear down for the annual bazaar, pray for the dead, or respond to another parish or community need in our city.

Although they are called Servant Saturdays, the service may happen on another day when the need or liturgical calendar calls for it.

Jesus said:

“For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve.” Mark 10:45

We live out an apprenticeship to Jesus when we do what He did.

The Calendar page will identify each service opportunity and whether it replaces a regular Tuesday gathering.

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

Poem and prayer by 16th-century Spanish mystic and saint, Teresa of Ávila
